During the last two months I have completed a cover and ten illustrations for an upcoming children’s book. The book is being created for the 18th birthday of the story’s author, a girl name Lili, who wrote the story when she was ten.
This is the 3rd image; After the boy gets kidnapped by the island's inhabitants, the remaining three have to decide what to do next. Love the concept – yes the girl is using walkie-talkies across countries to talk with her friend who's in the school bathroom. The guy with the stick is pissed cause he’s gonna have to fight a jaguar all by himself.
Oh gosh, this image gave me the most grief xD Well.. only near the end. You don't want to know how many times I needed to change the graffiti on the walls to accommodate all the names... (They are the names of Hunagrian actors who made an audio-book version of the story)
Aside from this, it was super fun to draw, it may be my favorite out of them all! Especially the jungle side of things :)
I finished rendering this in a car on my way to France. The guys from the back rows helped me with the details – like what kinds of graffiti you can find in school bathrooms (some got changed by the end). I had an awesome time working on this among friends! :D
