During the last two months I have completed a cover and ten illustrations for an upcoming children’s book. The book is being created for the 18th birthday of the story’s author, a girl name Lili, who wrote the story when she was ten.
The story, titled "Andi the Unlucky Spy" (Andi a Szerencsétlen Kém in Hungarian) is about a girl called Andi, who tries to spy on two men she suspects are criminals. Actually, she learns that they are just a magician and his assistant, but by then it's too late. She must follow them onto a plane where she also meets a young boy, but when the plane starts to crash, the four of them jump out together and end up stranded on an island, where they must overcome some obstacles to get home safely.
I was responsible for pretty much everything single-handedly – from deciding what the characters should look like, what scenes should be illustrated and how, to thumbnailing the scenes and designing the cover. Working with and getting continuous feedback from the clients has been really valuable! I feel really lucky having been given the chance to contribute to this gift. :D
